Since we became the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families for upwards of 45 years. We are certain that a relationship with Christ is the best source of transformation in the lives of the teenagers we serve. Every significant component of our program is biblically based. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason so many teenagers are finding success here, even where other programs didn’t work.
A number of factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low in order that boys get plenty of supervision and individual attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on regularly scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form a strong element of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally want to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After successfully finishing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home with a strong aftercare program to continue their positive growth. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a great deal to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we believe education holds the key to future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, students study on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who are struggling. We offer a GED option for boys with not enough credits to finish senior high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills including woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After completing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys decide to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Residents at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in many recreational activities, both on and off campus. We facilitate an adventure program second to none. In addition to being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
