As the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families more than 45 years. We believe that a relationship with Christ is the primary avenue for a lasting difference in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every major element of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ is the reason so many teenage boys are finding success here, even where other programs have failed.
A few factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure that boys receive lots of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students have their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on regularly scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form a key component of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally need to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys return home with a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a great deal to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we believe education is critical for future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, students study on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who need it. We offer a GED opportunity for anyone with too many missing credits to finish high school on time. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills such as woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys choose to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Boys at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch engage in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program second to none. In addition to being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.

The city’s government is run by a council-manager government consisting of a city manager and a city council headed by a mayor.
