As the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been helping families for more than 38 years. We feel that a relationship with Christ is the surest way to a lasting difference in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every main element of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why so many teenage boys have realized success here, even where other programs didn’t work.
Several factors set Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch apart from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure that boys have an abundance of supervision and one-on-one attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on normal scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form a key component of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally want to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue their positive growth. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means much to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education forms a foundation for future success. While enrolled in our accredited private Christian school, boys study on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to assist those who are struggling. We offer a GED opportunity for students with too few credits to finish high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills such as woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After leaving Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys opt to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Residents at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We facilitate an adventure program that is second to none. In addition to being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and dealing well with others.
