Since we became the initial residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been serving families for over 45 years. We are certain that a relationship with Jesus is the best source of healing in the lives of the boys we serve. Every major part of our program is biblically based. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason numerous boys have found success here, even where other programs have failed.
Several factors show the difference between Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch and other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low in order that boys have a lot of supervision and one-on-one attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on regularly scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form an important aspect of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally need to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys return home with a strong aftercare program to prevent relapse . Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Academics mean a lot to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we believe education strongly supports future success. While enrolled in our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to assist those who need it. We offer a GED opportunity for boys with too few credits to graduate senior high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills such as woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys decide to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance learning.
Boys at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We facilitate an adventure program that is second to none. Besides being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.
Many boys have turned their lives around and have gone on to make an impact for Christ after completing the program at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch. We would be happy to talk with you to see if our boarding school is a good option for your son.
