38 Year History of Healing and Hope for Hundreds of Boys
As the initial residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Ranch has been helping families for more than 38 years. We believe that a relationship with Christ is the primary avenue for change in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every significant component of our program is biblically based. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason countless teenage boys have discovered success here, even where other programs failed.
Several factors show the difference between Teen Challenge Ranch and other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure that boys receive plenty of supervision and one-on-one attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students can spend nights in their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on regularly scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form a strong element of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally need to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Ranch, boys go back home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue their positive growth. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Accredited Christian Boarding School Offering a First-Class Education
Education means a lot to us at Teen Challenge Ranch for Boys, because we believe education strongly supports future success. While enrolled in our accredited private Christian school, students complete courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to assist those who are struggling. We offer a GED opportunity for boys with not enough credits to finish senior high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills including woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, welding, basic automotive, and more. After leaving Teen Challenge Ranch, many boys prefer to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance learning.
Boys at Teen Challenge Ranch participate in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program associated with the Boy Scouts of America. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
