As the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been offering hope to families for upwards of 45 years. We feel that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the primary avenue for a lasting difference in the lives of the teenagers we serve. Every significant part of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ is the reason numerous teenagers have realized success here, even where other programs failed.
A number of factors show the difference between Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch and other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low in order that boys have a lot of supervision and one-on-one attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students can spend nights in their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on seasonally scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form an important aspect of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally desire to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home with a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Academics mean a great deal to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education is critical for future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, students study on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who need it. We offer a GED opportunity for boys with too few credits to graduate high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills like woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After completing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys decide to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance learning.
Teens at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in many recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program second to none. In addition to being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.
