Since we became the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been helping families more than 45 years. We believe that a relationship with Jesus is the primary avenue for a lasting difference in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every main part of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why countless teenage boys have discovered success here, even where other programs failed.
A number of factors show the difference between Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch and other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low so that boys get lots of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on normal scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form an important aspect of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally need to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home followed by a strong aftercare program to help them continue to grow. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a lot to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education forms a foundation for future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys study on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who are struggling. We offer a GED track for those with not enough credits to finish high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills like woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys opt to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance learning.
Residents at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch take part in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program. In addition to being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.
