If you are interested in therapeutic boarding schools or boys ranches in or near Tyler, Texas, take into account that Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch could be exactly what you are looking for. Located in Northwest Arkansas, it is obviously a distance from Tyler, Texas, but that may be a good thing. Parents from all over the nation, including Tyler, Texas, choose Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for their sons.
Since we became the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been serving families for over 45 years. We feel that a relationship with Jesus is the best source of change in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every significant part of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why numerous teenage boys have discovered success here, even where other programs failed.
A number of factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low in order that boys have a lot of supervision and one-on-one attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on seasonally scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form an important aspect of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally want to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home with a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means much to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we feel education strongly supports future success. In our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys complete courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who need it. We offer a GED option for anyone with not enough credits to finish senior high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills for example woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After leaving Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys prefer to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Boys at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program. In addition to being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.
Many boys have put their lives back on track and have gone on to make a difference for Christ after graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch.
