Normal Day in the Life of a Student
Weekdays
Students start their day with breakfast at 7:00 AM. Afterward, they have some personal time to prepare for the day. At 8:00 AM, they have group devotions in the chapel. Academic and vocational classes start at 8:30 and continue through the morning until Lunch time. After lunch, students will either return to the classroom for more academic work or attend group sessions. Students then attend Life Skills (intervention) classes and PE class. Dinner is served at 5:00 PM. Students stay busy through the evening. Students attend Character Studies (intervention) class after supper and have some free time before the evening chapel. After chapel, students head back to their dorm rooms and prepare for bed. Then it is lights out for the night.
Weekends
The schedule is much more relaxed on the weekends. On Saturday, students have breakfast at 8:00 AM and free time until Lunch. Afterward, students take part in a Saturday activity. When students return from the activity, they can enjoy more free time, play sports, watch a movie or just hang out with friends.
Breakfast is at 8:00 AM on Sundays. All students attend church off campus in the morning and then return to campus for lunch. Students have free time in the afternoon and can take part in many different campus recreational activities before dinner. Phase 2 and higher will attend church off campus that evening while Phase 1 attends a chapel service on campus.
We Recognize that Diet is Important to Recovery
Our cafeteria team prepares highly nutritious foods, including vegetables and a large fresh salad bar every day.
Special Activities
Students at Teen Challenge will have regular opportunities to participate in special events and activities. We frequently attend conferences, have adventure outings, hold retreats, and do service projects. When this happens, we will depart from our normal daily routines and follow a different schedule. And when nothing else is going on, grabbing a fishing pole and walking over to our own stocked lake can bring serenity to any boy.
