We provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment in which addicted boys from Kansas advance academically and behaviorally. They will also learn valuable life skills, develop character, and develop healthy relationships with others. Addiction therapy here aims to target underlying reasons for the re-occurrence of damaging behaviors and addictions. We employ adventure-based therapy, a proven curriculum, and ongoing individual and group addiction counseling. As a result of such therapies, students replace their old ways of thinking and behaving with a new sense of purpose and positivity.
For most boys who enter our program, harmful behaviors are driven by the substances they are abusing, from alcohol and pot, to harder illicit drugs. In any case, they have given in to unhealthy and extremely damaging methods of coping with life. Substances and adrenaline-seeking behaviors have become the boy’s coping mechanism for handling the ordinary stresses of life. Once the addictions are under control, we introduce each boy to new, healthy ways of coping with difficulties.
Spiritual principles such as honesty, integrity, and compassion are also taught to the boys and demonstrated by peers and staff. Boys are encouraged to trust God and seek His purpose in their lives. When students embrace these concepts, the obsession with drugs and alcohol will be removed and they will be free to resume lives as happy, productive members of society.
If your son is struggling with drugs and/or behavioral issues, we can help turn his life around. Although we are not located in Topeka, Kansas, it is ideal for a boy to be removed from his negative peer influences in his home city, so the distance is a plus. At this facility, he will learn how to conquer his struggles and develop healthy relationships. For more information about this Christian rehab for teens, located in Arkansas, please contact us.
As the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families for over 40 years. We believe that centering our program on Christ explains why countless teenage boys have discovered deliverance from addictions here, even where other rehab programs have failed.
After completion of our Christian rehab, boys return home with a strong aftercare program to continue their positive growth. Aftercare is included without added cost in our normal tuition package.
Academics mean much to us, because we find that education is critical for future success. While enrolled in our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who are struggling. Credits earned can easily transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills such as woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After graduating from our rehab, boys may decide to continue their classwork at home through the online Alpha Omega Academy that we use.
Many boys have put their lives back on track and have gone on to make a difference for Christ after successfully finishing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch. We would be happy to talk with you to determine if our boarding school is a good fit for your son. Whether you decide on Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, a school in Topeka, Kansas, or another program, we hope your family can experience the transformation that Christ can bring. Topeka is the capital city of the U.S. state of Kansas and the county seat of Shawnee County. It is situated along the Kansas River in the central part of Shawnee County, located in northeast Kansas, in the Central United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 127,473. The Topeka Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Shawnee, Jackson, Jefferson, Osage, and Wabaunsee counties, had an estimated population of 230,824 in the year 2009. The city is well known for the landmark United States Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, which overturned Plessy vs. Ferguson and declared segregation in public schools on account of race to be unconstitutional. Three ships of the US Navy have been named USS Topeka in honor of the city.
Topeka means “to dig good potatoes” in the languages of the Kansa and the Ioway. The potato referred to is the prairie potato (Psoralea esculenta), a perennial herb which is an important food for many Native Americans. As a placename, Topeka was first recorded in 1826 as the Kansa name for what is now called the Kansas River. Topeka’s founders chose the name in 1855 because it “was novel, of Indian origin and euphonious of sound.”Topeka’s Roots: the Prairie Potato Barbara Burgess]King, Dick (2005) “Topeka” rooted in spuds. Topeka Capital-Journal, 20 Nov.] The mixed-blood Kansa Indian, Joseph James, called Jojim, is credited with suggesting the name of Topeka. The city, laid out in 1854, was one of the Free-State towns founded by Eastern antislavery men immediately after the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Bill. In 1857, Topeka was chartered as a city.
