Located in Northwest Arkansas, it is obviously a distance from Enid, Oklahoma, but that may be a good thing. As the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families for nearly 60 years. We are certain that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the surest way to healing in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every significant element of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why so many teenage boys are finding success here, even where other programs failed.
A number of factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low in order that boys receive a lot of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on normal scheduled breaks.
MORE ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat substance abuse, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home followed by a strong aftercare program to help them continue to grow. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a lot to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education is critical for future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys complete courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who need it. We offer a GED track for those with not enough credits to complete high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills including woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After leaving Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys choose to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Teens at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in numerous recreational activities, both on and off campus. We operate an adventure program. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and dealing well with others.
