If you are looking for therapeutic boarding schools or boys ranches in or near Jonesboro, Arkansas, consider that Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch could possibly be precisely what you are interested in. Located in Northwest Arkansas, it is obviously a distance from Jonesboro, Arkansas, but that may be a good thing. Think about this: For teenage boys needing intervention, spending time away from your hometown — away from the negative impact of friends and familiar places — away–separate from the effect of friends and familiar places—may be just the thing to start a big change. Parents from all over the nation, including Jonesboro, Arkansas, decide on Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for their sons.
Since we became the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been assisting families for nearly 60 years. We believe that a relationship with Jesus is the best source of a lasting difference in the lives of the boys we serve. Every significant part of our program is biblically based. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason countless boys are finding success here, even where other programs have failed.
A number of factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low in order that boys get lots of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on seasonally scheduled breaks.
MORE ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat addictions to alcohol or drugs, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After successfully finishing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a great deal to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we think education strongly supports future success. While enrolled in our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, students study on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who are struggling. We offer a GED track for students with too few credits to finish senior high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills for example woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After completing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys prefer to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Students at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch engage in many recreational activities, both on and off campus. We facilitate an adventure program. Besides being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and dealing well with others.
Many boys have put their lives back on track and have gone on to make an impact for Christ after graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch.
