If you are searching for therapeutic boarding schools or boys ranches in or near Temple, Texas, take into account that Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch could possibly be just what you are looking for. Located in Northwest Arkansas, it is obviously a distance from Temple, Texas, but that may be a good thing. Consider this: For teens needing intervention, time spent away from your hometown — away from the negative impact of friends and familiar places — away–separate from the negative impact of friends and familiar places—could be just the thing to cause a change. Parents from all over the nation, including Temple, Texas, choose Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for their son.
Since we became the initial residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been helping families for more than five decades. We are certain that a relationship with Jesus Christ is the primary avenue for transformation in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every major element of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why countless teenage boys have realized success here, even where other programs didn’t work.
Several factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low so that boys get plenty of supervision and one-on-one attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students have their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on seasonally scheduled breaks.
MORE ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat substance abuse, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Academics mean much to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we think education strongly supports future success. In our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who are struggling. We offer a GED option for students with too many missing credits to complete senior high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills such as woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys choose to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Teens at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch engage in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
