Since we became the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been serving families for several decades. We feel that a relationship with Christ is the primary avenue for a lasting difference in the lives of the boys we serve. Every main part of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why countless boys have found success here, even where other programs have failed.
A number of factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low so that boys get lots of supervision and individual attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students have their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on seasonally scheduled breaks.
MORE ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat addictions to alcohol or drugs, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home accompanied by a strong aftercare program to prevent relapse . Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a lot to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we think education strongly supports future success. In our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys study courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who are struggling. We offer a GED track for those with too few credits to finish senior high school on time. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills like woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After leaving Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys opt to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance learning.
Residents at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in a variety of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We operate an adventure program second to none. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
