For teen boys dealing with anger, emotional issues, depression, behavioral problems, legal issues, or minor drug abuse, hope exists. A chance at a new life is available through Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch. We lovingly train troubled boys to choose a different path in life, leading them to be godly and upright young men.
If you are searching for a boys ranch in La Porte, Texas, consider that Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch may be precisely what you are interested in, since spending time away from your hometown — away from the negative impact of friends and familiar places — away–apart from the influence of friends and familiar places—could be precisely the right thing to motivate a change. Parents from all over the country, including La Porte, Texas, choose Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for their boy.
As the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been serving families for several decades. We feel that a relationship with Christ is the best source of a lasting difference in the lives of the young men we serve. Every significant element of our program is biblically-based. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason so many young men are finding success here, even where other programs didn’t work.
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low so that boys get lots of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students have their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on regularly scheduled breaks.
ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat addictions to alcohol or drugs, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go back home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue their positive growth. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Academics mean much to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we feel education holds the key to future success. While enrolled in our private school with fully accredited courses, boys complete courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who need it. We offer a GED track for those with not enough credits to graduate high school on time. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills for example woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others.
Residents at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch take part in many recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program. Besides being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
Many teens have turned their lives around and have gone on to make a difference for Christ after completing the program at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys. We would be happy to talk with you to determine if our boarding school is a good option for your son. Whether you choose Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, a school in La Porte, Texas, or another program, we hope your family can find the healing that Christ can bring. La Porte is a city in Harris County, Texas within the Bay Area of the HoustonSugar LandBaytown metropolitan area. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 31,880. La Porte is the fourth largest incorporated city in Harris County.
When La Porte celebrated its centennial in 1992, it was the home of Barbours Cut Terminal, operated by the Port of Houston Authority since 1977. 15 years later, The Port of Houston’s newest addition, Bayport, was established just South of La Porte. Thus the area around La Porte has served an increasingly important role in international trade since the 1970s.
The area around modern La Porte gained fame early in Texas history as the location of the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836, which ended the Texas Revolution, establishing the independence of the Republic of Texas from Mexico. The San Jacinto Monument, in the unincorporated area of La Porte, commemorates the battle. During the early 1900s, particularly the 1920s and 1930s, La Porte’s Sylvan Beach became a nationally known tourist destination attracting some of the nation’s most well-known entertainers. As a result of changing economics in the Houston area and beach erosion the tourist business declined while industrial development in the area grew. During World War II and afterward La Porte’s economy rapidly re-oriented toward petroleum/petrochemicals and shipping, which developed as the dominant industries in the Pasadena-Baytown area.

We value education and academic success, considering it key to long-term life success. Most of our staff have advanced degrees. Many of the students who come here lack sufficient high school credit to obtain their diplomas in a timely manner, but we help them get caught up and even to retake classes for a higher GPA. Every boy on campus is taught and tutored several hours each day. Our disciplined and structured approach to learning, with individualized academic goals and progress, helps the boys get back on track with their education and our courses are fully accredited and transferrable.
Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging indoor and outdoor physical activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). They are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
