If you are searching for a boys ranch in Lake Zurich, Illinois, be aware that Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch could be exactly what you are searching for, since getting away from your hometown — away from the negative impact of friends and familiar places — away–away from the pressure of friends and familiar places—could be precisely the right thing to start a transformation. As the initial residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been offering hope to families for nearly 60 years. We believe that a relationship with Jesus is the primary avenue for transformation in the lives of the boys we serve. Every major element of our program is biblically-based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why so many boys have discovered success here, even where other programs failed.
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure that boys receive a lot of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students can spend nights in their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on normal scheduled breaks.
ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat substance abuse, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home accompanied by a strong aftercare program to continue their positive growth. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means much to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education is critical for future success. In our private school with fully accredited courses, boys complete courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who are struggling. We offer a GED track for boys with too many missing credits to complete high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills like woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others.
Boys at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in a variety of recreational activities, both on and off campus. Besides being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
Many boys have put their lives back on track and have gone on to make a difference for Christ after graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys. We would like to talk with you to see if our boarding school is a good fit for your son. We value education and academic success, considering it key to long-term life success. Most of our staff have advanced degrees. Many of the students who come here lack sufficient high school credit to obtain their diplomas in a timely manner, but we help them get caught up and even to retake classes for a higher GPA. Every boy on campus is taught and tutored several hours each day. Our disciplined and structured approach to learning, with individualized academic goals and progress, helps the boys get back on track with their education and our courses are fully accredited and transferrable.
