Since we became the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families for more than five decades. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why numerous teenagers have realized success here, even where other programs have failed.
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low so that boys receive lots of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students can spend nights in their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on normal scheduled breaks.
ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat addictions to alcohol or drugs, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After completion of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go back home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a great deal to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education strongly supports future success. In our private school with fully accredited courses, students work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who are struggling. We offer a GED opportunity for anyone with too many missing credits to complete high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills like woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more.
Boys at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We operate an adventure program second to none. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.
Many boys have turned their lives around and have gone on to make a difference for Christ after completing the program at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys. The city was founded along the Missouri River, and a crossing called Lone Tree Ferry earned the city its nickname, the “Gateway to the West.” During the 19th century, Omaha’s central location in the United States caused the city to become an important national transportation hub. Throughout the rest of the 19th century, the transportation and jobbing sectors were important in the city, along with its railroads and breweries. In the 20th century, the Omaha Stockyards, once the world’s largest, and its meatpacking plants, gained international prominence. Today, Omaha is the home to five Fortune 500 companies: ConAgra Foods, Union Pacific Corporation, Mutual of Omaha, Peter Kiewit and Sons, Inc., and Berkshire Hathaway. Berkshire Hathaway is headed by local investor Warren Buffett, who was the richest person in the world for the first half of 2008. Omaha is also the home to four Fortune 1000 headquarters, TD Ameritrade, West Corporation, Valmont Industries, and Werner Enterprises.
We value education and academic success, considering it key to long-term life success. Most of our staff have advanced degrees. Many of the students who come here lack sufficient high school credit to obtain their diplomas in a timely manner, but we help them get caught up and even to retake classes for a higher GPA. Every boy on campus is taught and tutored several hours each day. Our disciplined and structured approach to learning, with individualized academic goals and progress, helps the boys get back on track with their education and our courses are fully accredited and transferrable.
Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging indoor and outdoor physical activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). They are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
