As the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families for more than five decades. We feel that a relationship with Jesus is the primary avenue for transformation in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every major element of our program is biblically-based. We believe that centering our program on Christ explains why countless teenage boys have discovered success here, even where other programs didn’t work.
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure boys get lots of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students can spend nights in their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on seasonally scheduled breaks.
ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat addictions to alcohol or drugs, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After successfully finishing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys return home followed by a strong aftercare program to prevent relapse . Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a great deal to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we feel education strongly supports future success. While enrolled in our private school with fully accredited courses, boys complete courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who need it. We offer a GED option for students with not enough credits to complete high school in an appropriate time frame. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills for example woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more.
Residents at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch take part in numerous recreational activities, both on and off campus. We facilitate an adventure program. Besides being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.
Many boys have turned their lives around and have gone on to make an impact for Christ after completing the program at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys. We would love to talk with you to help you decide if our boarding school is a good fit for your son. Whether you select Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, a school in Quincy, Illinois, or another option, we hope your family can experience the transformation that Christ can bring. We value education and academic success, considering it key to long-term life success. Most of our staff have advanced degrees. Many of the students who come here lack sufficient high school credit to obtain their diplomas in a timely manner, but we help them get caught up and even to retake classes for a higher GPA. Every boy on campus is taught and tutored several hours each day. Our disciplined and structured approach to learning, with individualized academic goals and progress, helps the boys get back on track with their education and our courses are fully accredited and transferrable.
Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging indoor and outdoor physical activities.
