Healing and Hope for Thousands of Boys Over the Past Five Decades

boys ranchesAs the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families for more than five decades. We are certain that a relationship with Jesus is the best source of change in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every main component of our program is biblically-based. We have seen thousands of times over that our faith-based approach is why numerous teenage boys have found success here, even where other programs have failed.

A number of factors set Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for boys apart from other therapeutic ranches:

  • MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low so that boys get plenty of supervision and one-on-one attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.

  • ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.

  • PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.

  • FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on normal scheduled breaks.

  • ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat substance abuse, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.

  • EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys return home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.

Skokie Coord is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Its name comes from a Native American word for “fire”. A Chicago suburb, for many years Skokie promoted itself as “The World’s Largest Village”. Its population, per the 2000 census, was 63,348. Sharing a border with the City of Chicago, Skokie’s streets, like that of many suburbs, are largely a continuation of the Chicago street grid, and it is serviced by the Chicago Transit Authority, further cementing its connection to the city.
Skokie was originally a German-Luxembourger farming community, but was later settled by a sizeable Jewish population, especially after World War II. At its peak in the mid 60s, 40% of the population was Jewish, the largest percent of any Chicago suburb. In recent years, however, Skokie’s population has become significantly more diverse and several Jewish synagogues and schools have closed. However, Skokie still has a very large Jewish population. It is home to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, which opened in northwest Skokie in 2009.
Skokie has received national attention twice for court cases decided by the United States Supreme Court. In the mid-1970s, Skokie was at the center of a case concerning the First Amendment right to assemble and the National Socialist Party of America, a neo-Nazi group. Skokie ultimately lost that case. In 2001, although Skokie was not a direct party to the case, a decision by the Village regarding land use led the Court to reduce the power of the United States Environmental Protection Agency Citation needed.
