Christian Rehab for Boys, Offering Adventure-Based Addiction Treatment for Teens in West Virginia
Teen Challenge enrolls boys from West Virginia on its Arkansas campus. This Christian rehab for teenagers is unique in that it has private bedrooms, an exciting wilderness therapy program, and it also solves behavioral problems.
We provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment in which addicted boys from West Virginia grow academically and behaviorally. They will also learn valuable life skills, develop character, and develop healthy relationships with others. Addiction therapy here aims to identify underlying reasons for the repetition of damaging behaviors and addictions. We employ adventure-based therapy, a proven curriculum, and ongoing individual and group addiction counseling. As a result of such therapies, students replace their old ways of thinking and behaving with a new sense of drive and positivity.
A Purpose-Driven Life is the Most Viable Cure for Substance Abuse
For most boys who enter our program, harmful behaviors are driven by the substances they are abusing, from alcohol and pot, to various illicit drugs. Regardless, they have given in to unhealthy and extremely harmful methods of dealing with life. Substances and adrenaline-seeking activities have become the boy’s coping mechanism for dealing with the ordinary rigors of life. After the addictions are under control, we introduce each boy to new, better ways of coping with struggles.
Spiritual principles such as honesty, integrity, and compassion are also taught to the boys and modeled by peers and staff. Boys are encouraged to trust God and seek His purpose in their lives. When students embrace these concepts, the need for drugs and alcohol will be lifted and they will be able to resume lives as happy, productive members of society.

40 Years of Delivering Boys of Addictions and Self-Destructive Behaviors
Since we became the initial residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been offering hope to families for over 40 years. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason countless teenage boys are finding deliverance from addictions here, even where other rehab programs have failed.
An Amazingly Effective Aftercare Program, Right in Your Home
After graduation from our Christian rehab, boys go back home accompanied by a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included without added cost in our normal tuition package.
Your Boy Will Continue and Even Repair His Education
Education means a lot to us, because we find that education strongly supports future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who are struggling. Credits earned can easily transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills including woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After leaving our rehab, boys may choose to continue their classwork at home through the online Alpha Omega Academy that we use.
We would love to talk with you to see if our program is the right fit for your son. Please read the rest of our website and use our inquiry form or call us today.

West Virginia is a state in the Appalachian and Southeastern regions of the United States, bordered by Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the southwest, Ohio to the northwest, Pennsylvania to the northeast and Maryland to the east. West Virginia is the 41st most extensive and the 37th most populous of the 50 United States. The capital and largest city is Charleston.
West Virginia became a state following the Wheeling Conventions, breaking away from Virginia during the American Civil War. The new state was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863, and was a key Civil War border state. West Virginia was the only state to form by seceding from a Confederate state, and was one of only two states formed during the American Civil War (the other one being Nevada, which separated from Utah Territory).
The Census Bureau and the Association of American Geographers consider West Virginia part of the South. The northern panhandle extends adjacent to Pennsylvania and Ohio with the West Virginia cities of Wheeling and Weirton being just across the border from the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, while Bluefield is less than Convert from North Carolina. Huntington in the southwest is close to the states of Ohio and Kentucky, while Martinsburg and Harper’s Ferry in the Eastern Panhandle region are considered to be a part of the Washington metropolitan area, in between the states of Maryland and Virginia. The unique position of West Virginia means that it is often included in several geographical regions, including the Mid-Atlantic, the Upland South, and the Southeastern United States. Notably, it is the only state which entirely lies within the area served by the Appalachian Regional Commission, which is a common definition of “Appalachia”.
The state is noted for its mountains and diverse topography, its historically significant logging and coal mining industries, and its political and labor history. It is one of the most densely karstic areas in the world, making it a choice area for recreational caving and scientific research. The karst lands contribute to much of the state’s cool trout waters. It is also known for a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities, including skiing, whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and hunting.
