Since we became the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been serving families for nearly 60 years. We feel that a relationship with Jesus is the best source of a lasting difference in the lives of the boys we serve. Every significant element of our program is biblically based. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason numerous boys are finding success here, even where other programs didn’t work.
A number of factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low so that boys get a lot of supervision and individual attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on seasonally scheduled breaks.
MORE ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat addictions to alcohol or drugs, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys return home with a strong aftercare program to help them continue to grow. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a lot to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education strongly supports future success. While enrolled in our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys study courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to aid those who are struggling. We offer a GED opportunity for those with not enough credits to complete senior high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills like woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After leaving Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys choose to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Boys at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch engage in a variety of recreational activities, both on and off campus. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
Many boys have put their lives back on track and have gone on to make an impact for Christ after completing the program at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch. Flower Mound is a town in Denton and Tarrant counties in the U.S. state of Texas, and a suburb of Fort Worth and Dallas. Its population was 50,702 at the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2000 census, and 64,669 at the 2010 Census. The town derives its name from the prominent Convert mound located in the southern portion of the town. The most widely accepted explanation for the mound is that it was a sacred ceremonial ground of Wichita Indians in the early 19th century. Though surrounded by commercial and residential development, the mound is privately owned to protect it from further development.
Flower Mound has a suburban mid-size city atmosphere with easy access to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. It refuses to be referred to as a “city” despite its recent growth; it bills itself as the “Town of Flower Mound” with a “Town Hall” and a “Town Council”.
