Since we became the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been helping families for more than five decades. We believe that a relationship with Jesus is the best source of a lasting difference in the lives of the young men we serve. Every major component of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why countless young men are finding success here, even where other programs failed.
A number of factors distinguish Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure boys have an abundance of supervision and individual attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on normal scheduled breaks.
MORE ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat substance abuse, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After successfully finishing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home followed by a strong aftercare program to continue their positive growth. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Academics mean much to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we believe education forms a foundation for future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys complete courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to assist those who need it. We offer a GED opportunity for students with not enough credits to finish high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills like woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After completing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys decide to continue their classwork from home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance learning.
Teens at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch take part in a multitude of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We run an adventure program. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
