Located in Northwest Arkansas, it is obviously a distance from Plainview, Texas, but that may be a good thing. Since we became the first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been helping families for several decades. We believe that a relationship with Jesus is the best source of healing in the lives of the teenage boys we serve. Every significant element of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ explains why so many teenage boys have discovered success here, even where other programs have failed.
A few factors set Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch apart from other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure boys get plenty of supervision and individual attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on seasonally scheduled breaks.
MORE ADDICTION TREATMENT — Our program is a licensed dual-diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center with staff expertly trained to treat substance abuse, as well as harmful lifestyle addictions to gambling, pornography, or online gaming.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After successfully finishing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go home with a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a lot to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education strongly supports future success. While enrolled in our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, students work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who are struggling. We offer a GED option for those with too few credits to graduate senior high school in a timely manner. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys may also study basic vocational skills including woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys decide to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance learning.
Teens at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch participate in numerous recreational activities, both on and off campus. We facilitate an adventure program that is second to none. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and working well with others.
