Located in Northwest Arkansas, it is obviously a distance from Burleson, Texas, but that may be a good thing. Since we became the very first residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been offering hope to families for more than 45 years. We are certain that a relationship with Jesus is the primary avenue for change in the lives of the boys we serve. Every significant portion of our program is biblically based. We feel that centering our program on Christ is the reason so many boys have found success here, even where other programs failed.
Several factors show the difference between Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch and other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure boys get a lot of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students enjoy their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to visit family on normal scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form a key component of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally need to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After successfully finishing Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys go back home with a strong aftercare program to continue the forward momentum. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Education means a great deal to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we find that education forms a foundation for future success. In our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to help those who need it. We offer a GED opportunity for boys with too few credits to complete senior high school on time. Credits earned can transfer to private or public schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills for example woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and others. After leaving Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys prefer to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Students at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch engage in many recreational activities, both on and off campus. We facilitate an adventure program that is second to none. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and cooperating well with others.
