Since we became the initial residential Teen Challenge program for boys, Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch has been bringing restoration to families for more than 45 years. We feel that a relationship with Christ is the best source of transformation in the lives of the boys we serve. Every main part of our program is biblically based. We believe that centering our program on Christ is the reason countless boys have realized success here, even where other programs have failed.
A number of factors show the difference between Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch and other therapeutic boarding schools:
MORE STAFF — First, we keep student-to-staff ratios low to ensure that boys receive lots of supervision and personal attention. Our staff are highly trained and most have bachelor or master’s degrees in their area of work.
ADVENTURE-BASED LEARNING — Our outdoor adventure program is second to none. Our students have regular opportunities to experience fun and challenging outdoor activities. Students enjoy camping, backpacking, rappelling, canoeing, and spelunking (cave exploration). Students are challenged physically and learn the importance of goals and perseverance.
MORE PRIVACY FOR EACH BOY — Rather than housing all the boys in a large dorm filled with bunk beds, our students have their own bedrooms, separate from the noise and influence of the other boys.
MORE FAMILY VISITS — Residents are allowed to make visits to home on regularly scheduled breaks.
MORE MISSION TRIPS — Mission trips form a strong element of the program, for this reason: as boys mature, they naturally desire to give back and serve others.
EXTENSIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAM — After graduation from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, boys return home with a strong aftercare program to help them continue to grow. Aftercare is included in our tuition package.
Academics mean much to us at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch for Boys, because we believe education forms a foundation for future success. Within our private Christian school with fully accredited classes, boys work on courses led by certified teachers, with individual tutoring available to assist those who are struggling. We offer a GED track for anyone with not enough credits to finish high school on time. Credits earned can transfer to public or private schools at home. Boys can also learn basic vocational skills for example woodworking, basic electrical, construction and carpentry, shop skills, basic automotive, and more. After graduating from Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch, many boys decide to continue their classwork at home through dual enrollment with Alpha Omega Academy distance education.
Residents at Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch engage in a variety of recreational activities, both on and off campus. We operate an adventure program second to none. As well as being fun and physically challenging for the boys, it teaches them about reaching goals, communicating and dealing well with others.
